The Journal
Started in 1996 by Sheila Tombe, Apostrophe is a small literary arts
journal featuring new and established writers of poetry and short fiction.
The journal is based on the original design by Joe Grigg, and is
edited by Sheila Tombe (poetry) and Ellen Malphrus (fiction). Among
past contributors have been James Dickey, Virgil Suarez, Nan Levinson,
Gail Gilliland, Brewster Robertson, Edward Butscher, Ryan G. Van Cleave.
Subscriptions
$10 individuals, $15 institutions, $17:50 overseas
or become a donor or patron to help us cover costs: the journal is a
not-for-profit publication funded partially by private donations and
subscriptions (which cover about 5% of the costs).
Submission Guidelines
Poetry
Maximum 100 lines, formatted as you wish it to appear on the page.
Well-wrought poetry of any genre considered -- as long as it is excellent.
Fiction
One-ten pages of short fiction double-spaced. Any angle, issue,
or format. Experimental prose considered.
Essay
Approximately eight-ten pages of double-spaced excellent non-fiction
prose on any issue of cultural importance.
